Hey friends,
Writing a post here is something I’ve procrastinated on... a lot. Like, a lot a lot. You wouldn’t believe how many half-finished drafts are sitting in my dashboard.
Why is it so hard to just write and hit publish?
I think it’s because I’ve been putting way too much pressure on myself. I told myself that every post needed to be educational, inspirational, or maybe even life-changing. I’d spend weeks—sometimes months—crafting technical articles with that in mind.
And, well… that’s exhausting.
So I sat with that for a bit, and asked myself: What if writing didn’t have to be so serious? What if it could just… be enjoyable again?
That brings me to this email. I’ve decided to switch things up.
Here's the change:
I’m moving away from the big, polished how-to posts. Instead, I’ll be sharing more casual, personal stuff—stories from my life as an illustrator, little moments, thoughts, behind-the-scenes, maybe even a few messy sketches. Basically, more me.
I know this might not be what you signed up for. And if that’s the case, no hard feelings at all. Seriously—thank you for being here, even for a little while.
But if you’re sticking around, thank you. Really. I’m excited (and a little nervous) to write more freely, and I can’t wait to share these weekly updates with you.
I hear you! I also suffer from putting too much pressure on myself. And for what? I'm looking forward to reading your relaxed no-pressure posts.
Hi Amber, I subscribed quite recently and haven't read many of your posts yet save the last two. Commenting here for the first time. I read your post and found it so refreshing. I can't tell you how mentally exhausting it gets to read every creator’s educational/informational posts because of the information overload. No shade to any creators who do this because that information definitely helps people. But we follow most creators because we love the art they create and to find something relatable about their lives that we can connect with. It's a real breath of fresh air to see the kind of posts you are planning to share in the future and I definitely plan to stick around for that!
