Sketches VS Photos
Do you prefer sketching or taking photos when you see something interesting?
This is a photo taken by my friend while we were hiking at Kamikochi, Japan. I(the poser in white jacket LMAO) was sketching under -3 degree, not to mention the super strong wind. I still remember how freezing it was. I could hardly feel my fingers, nose and ears but I enjoyed doing this so much. Drawing under uncomfortable situation just allows me to jot down everything that caught my attention. Let me show you my master piece…….
Yup! Wobbly lines, wonky perspectives and stick figures. This drawing might be a rough sketch, or even an unreadable draft to you. But to me, this drawing is a personal way to record things happened and my feeling at that moment. Although this “rough sketch” looks simple, it carries a lot of hidden information!
I remember clearly how the father and the daughter spent their time together by the river (or a lake? Forgive me for that.) And there were loads of stacked rocks by the river too! Not to mention those pretty, poetic tree trunks by the river. This drawing reminds me everything happened while sketching. When I see something interesting or heart-warming, I prefer sketching it out on my sketchbook than taking pictures. Life drawing has a magic power. It can capture not only what you see, but also how you feel at that moment. So, take out your pencil and paper next time when you are about to take your phone out.
Hope you have a great sketching weekend!
